Mid-Summer Update

Summer is passing quickly. June started off rainy but then the summer drought hit early, about a month ago which is when this photo was taken. Zoom in to see the main subject, a barred owl that visited the garden for a couple of days. The roses were looking pretty good also,

With Aimeé working, I keep myself busy with the garden and house projects. I finished painting the stucco, and last week I began dealing with the crawl space. My plan was to replace the plastic vapor barrier on the dirt floor but now I have bigger plans. I discovered a major source of water ingress which I have fixed. I’ve done a fair bit of research on the problems and solutions of crawl spaces, and I think that when I’m done the house will be much better protected from humidity.

We are hoping toe return to Guanajuato for the winter in October, just waiting for the details on international travel before booking flights.

Off to Work

May 3, 2021

Aimeé found herself a summer job working at John Henry’s Resort & Marina, which is located just down the hill in Garden Bay. Coming back is no problem with her ebike. It’s a full time position in housekeeping until the end of September, which is perfect as we plan to head back to Mexico in October. Hopefully it will be a great experience for her and it surely will help her english.

It struck me all of the events of the past five years that enabled this day: emigrating to Canada, studying english, learning to ride her ebike, and building the confidence to walk into the business to ask about employment. Congratulations Aimeé!
