Spring is Here

Flowering of spring plants starts early in Vancouver, quite exciting for a gardening nerd.  I have found a new happy routine and am being quite productive.

Today I chaired the AGM of the bare land strata where the cabin is on Nelson Island.  Yesterday I crammed up on Robert’s Rules and hardly slept as I imagined difficult situations that could come up and how I could respond.  The meeting went well since a large part of agenda, votes on bylaw replacements, was set aside thus avoiding many hours of controversy.

Now I am free of strata responsibilities meaning more freedom and discretionary time.  In the city today but going back to the house tomorrow after shopping at Home Depot to feed my house projects.  The pantry in the kitchen is gone and am I repairing the damage.  Got to get back to building the deer fence as caged shrubs are not very attractive.

Back in Garden Bay

I flew back to Vancouver on Tuesday January 13 with a stopover in Portland where I enjoyed a local craft beer, delicious!  Mexican beer is cheap but ordinary.  Lots to do in the city including putting the apartment back on the market.  Drove to Garden Bay on Tuesday January 20.  The house is pretty much as I left it.

It’s cold, wet, and grey here in BC as it normally is in the winter, although last week we had a couple of nice-ish days.  I don’t like the weather!  My resolve to travel next winter is stronger than ever.

In Guanajuato I had an enjoyable routine and few responsibilities.  Here I have too many responsibilities and I’ve yet to establish the routine that I have in mind.  I’m playing piano but not seriously.  My Spanish is retreating to the background which is unavoidable.  I have run only once since my return.

But I’m making progress and spring is coming.
