{"id":96,"date":"2013-05-19T15:29:41","date_gmt":"2013-05-19T22:29:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ashworthdavidg.ca\/?p=96"},"modified":"2026-04-19T19:53:03","modified_gmt":"2026-04-20T02:53:03","slug":"mariachi-madness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ashworthdavidg.duckdns.org\/wordpress\/index.php\/2013\/05\/19\/mariachi-madness\/","title":{"rendered":"Mariachi Madness"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It all <a href=\"http:\/\/ashworthdavidg.ca\/new\/?p=550\" target=\"_blank\">started with<\/a>&nbsp;La Hija del Mariachi. &nbsp;Since returning to Vancouver I&#8217;ve watched all 147 episodes again and have gotten a couple friends hooked as well. &nbsp;We&#8217;ve downloaded all the videos and have an mp3 library of over 100 songs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Much of the music was written by <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jos%C3%A9_Alfredo_Jim%C3%A9nez\" target=\"_blank\">Jos\u00e9 Alfredo Jim\u00e9nez<\/a>. &nbsp;I purchased sheet music for 15 of his songs and am able to play a couple of them. &nbsp;My piano practice routine has been shattered by unwelcome distractions including work, being on strata council, and being part of the board of my building. &nbsp;Oh, and by the way, we are being sued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last night we attended a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mariachifestival.ca\/mariachis-this-year\" target=\"_blank\">2013 Mariachi Festival<\/a> concert in Vancouver. &nbsp;It was a great show. &nbsp;I hadn&#8217;t been on Granville Street at night for many years. &nbsp;I was hugely impressed by great variety of bars and restaurants, and by the throngs of people enjoying themselves. &nbsp;I must get out more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With that in mind today I started buying tickets for the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.coastaljazz.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\">2013 Vancouver International Jazz Festival<\/a>. &nbsp;I could be out every night from June 21 to July 1. &nbsp;The festival overflows with free concerts all over downtown. &nbsp;I&#8217;m particularly looking forward to attending free workshops on jazz piano (strictly as a bystander).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It all started with&nbsp;La Hija del Mariachi. &nbsp;Since returning to Vancouver I&#8217;ve watched all 147 episodes again and have gotten a couple friends hooked as well. &nbsp;We&#8217;ve downloaded all the videos and have an mp3 library of over 100 songs.
