You can see they are eager to grow.  With great pleasure I planted them right away, one at the base of each post of my new rope swag pergola that I built this spring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"http:\/\/ashworthdavidg6722705c1a-bsotj.wordpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/1cc59-20210419_150426.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"750\" src=\"http:\/\/ashworthdavidg6722705c1a-bsotj.wordpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/1cc59-20210419_150426.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-939\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The idea for this came from watching Gardener&#8217;s World and it solves a design problem in the front garden, i.e., how to add vertical interest.  The roses that I purchase are all large climbers that will be trained up the posts and along the ropes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hortico.com\/roses\/view.asp?action=sbcn&amp;catno=CLFOJU10\" target=\"_blank\">Fourth of July<\/a><\/li><li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hortico.com\/roses\/view.asp?action=sbcn&amp;catno=CLNEDA10\" target=\"_blank\">New Dawn<\/a><\/li><li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hortico.com\/roses\/view.asp?action=sbcn&amp;catno=CLCOYO10\" target=\"_blank\">City of York<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hortico.com\/roses\/view.asp?action=sbcn&amp;catno=CLSDLM10\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Souvenir de Malmaison<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.heirloomroses.com\/white-dawnr.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">White Dawn<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We are having summer-like weather and the garden is what keeps us busy.  <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today I received five bare root rose plants.
