Finished week 10 of school and was sad to leave. \u00a0I caught an early bus to Guadalajara and transferred to a bus to Mazatlan. \u00a0Total journey was about 14 hours. \u00a0We passed through a couple of police inspections including one where they x-rayed all the luggage. \u00a0The police are friendly enough though.<\/p>\n
Arrived in Mazatl\u00e1n around 8pm. \u00a0Was going to catch a local bus to the hotel but when I asked for directions I was advised not to walk about, so I took an open air taxi to the Belmar Hotel. \u00a0The location of the hotel is perfect. \u00a0The hotel is clean but run down. \u00a0The bed and pillows are hard, and there is no hot water. \u00a0Going to pay a bit more when Karen arrives and stay just up the street at La Siesta<\/a>.<\/p>\n Was up early today to walk around. \u00a0Found the market and had a good typical Mexican breakfast. \u00a0I then walked to, and up to the Faro. \u00a0It’s hot and humid here compared to Guanajuato. \u00a0I then walked north towards gringolandia but did not go all the way.<\/p>\n My first impressions of old Mazatl\u00e1n are: it is very residential, there are\u00a0as many Mexican tourists as gringos but waiters\u00a0still want to speak to you in English as in Puerto Vallarta, but it seems to be more relaxed than PV.<\/p>\n https:\/\/photos.gstatic.com\/media\/slideshow.swf<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Finished week 10 of school and was sad to leave. \u00a0I caught an early bus to Guadalajara and transferred to a bus to Mazatlan. \u00a0Total journey was about 14 hours. \u00a0We passed through a couple of police inspections including one where they x-rayed all the luggage. \u00a0The police are friendly enough though.
